For the second year in a row, Dennington's Day Out - which was to be held on November 14 - has been cancelled due to COVID restrictions.
But St John's will enjoy a Dennington's Day In on Friday November 12, which will include fun activities for staff and students.
Dennington's Day Out chairperson Sommer Faulkner said the day in format was being made possible due to the support of sponsors.
"The students have missed out on so much so it will be nice to have something fun," Ms Faulkner said.
"The day in will not cost parents anything because all our sponsors have stayed on board even though the main event isn't happening.
"We are so thankful to get that support and it shows what an important event it has become for the community.
"It has always been an event that has gone beyond the school - it is a community celebration - and the Dennington community groups and businesses have embraced that."
Ms Faulkner said she was hopeful of a full-scale Dennington's Day Out returning for 2022. If it does, it will be an historic occasion, as it would be the 10th anniversary of the community-focused gathering.
The 2019 event attracted over 2000 people.
Over its history the event, which is held on the school grounds, has grown a reputation as a showcase of food, craft stalls and children's entertainment.
