There are 209 people in hospital with COVID-19 across the state, 59 of those are in intensive care and 40 are on a ventilator.
The one fatality was a woman in her 70s from Moreland in Melbourne's inner north.
Of those in hospital, 86 per cent were not vaccinated, 12 per cent were partially vaccinated, and one per cent were fully vaccinated.
Hospital admissions have steadied since Friday after rising by 30 per cent over the past week.
Nearly 40,000 Victorians were vaccinated through state hubs yesterday, which was a record for a Sunday. It brings total vaccinations in state hubs to 295,000 for the week, another record. There were also 63,000 new vaccination bookings made yesterday.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Of the new COVID-19 cases, 14 were from regional Victoria: five in Ballarat, two in Moorabool, three in Mitchell Shire, and one each in Mount Alexander, Moira Shire, South Gippsland and the Macedon Ranges.
All the new Ballarat cases were connected to household contacts or close contacts of positive cases.
Daniel Andrews also announced the arrival of the Moderna mRNA vaccine, which will be distributed through pharmacies across the state.
Starting this week there will be 440 pharmacies in Victoria receiving the Moderna vaccine with 281 additional pharmacies next week.
There will be over 300,000 Moderna doses available this month and that number will increase in October and November.
The Moderna vaccine is similar to the already available Pfizer jab and eligibility will be the same, with people aged 12 to 59 allowed access.
President of the Pharmacy Guild of Victoria Anthony Tassone said the Moderna vaccine, like the Pfizer, was safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women. The two doses are given at an interval of four weeks. Participating pharmacies can be found through: findapharmacy.com.au
