The Warrnambool midcourter doubled up netball with women's football commitments at Western Victoria Female Football League club South Warrnambool.
She found form on both court and field.
Her netball season at Warrnambool netted 22 votes - three clear of her nearest rival - and was the joint most consistent player in the division.
Johnstone held off Cobden's Paige Compton (19) and Hamilton Kangaroos Keely Beaton (18) to clinch the award.
Johnstone said it was tough to juggle but she'd enjoyed the campaign.
"I'll probably have to choose one sport next season," she said.
"I probably could do both but I'm just not sure."
Johnstone said her side had a good season.
