A start in the Caulfield Cup next month is on the cards for Warrnambool mare Tralee Rose, if she wins the group three Foundation Cup at Caulfield on Saturday.

The winner of Saturday's 2000-metre race gets a free ticket into the $5 million Caulfield Cup on October 16.
Tralee Rose has drawn barrier two in the $200,000 Foundation Cup and her trainer Symon Wilde is upbeat the lightly-raced mare will run well after putting in an encouraging performance at her first start in this campaign.
"Our main goal has been in the Melbourne Cup but if she happens to win on Saturday we've got to seriously think of the Caulfield Cup," Wilde told The Standard.
"The Bart Cummings at Flemington on October 2 is a free ticket into the Melbourne Cup if you happened to win.
"That was the original path we were going down. It's a very good field in the Foundation Cup. I'm not sure she can win but she'll be very competitive.

"Craig Williams is riding her and he's got a very good understanding of Tralee Rose. She's a stronger mare in this preparation. She's a clean winded horse who doesn't need a lot of work to get her to her top.
"Tralee Rose worked on the course proper over 600 metres at Warrnambool on Tuesday and her work was sound. Melissa Julius, who rides her in a lot of her work, was very happy."
Casterton maiden winner Tinson lines up for Wilde in the $300,000 Guineas Prelude on Saturday.
"We've had a throw at the stumps with Tinson," the two-time Grand Annual Steeplechase-winning trainer said.
"He won his maiden at Casterton in impressive fashion but this is a big jump in class. Tinson is a half-brother to Dodging Bullets, who we used to train.
"We've got an understanding of the breed and we think with time Tinson may develop into a handy horse."
Talented jockey Dean Yendall has been booked to ride Tinson.
