Reflections on Nature: Discovering the Gardens will run until October 10, showcasing the best of Warrnambool's Botanical Gardens through acrylic paint and charcoal.

Peters said the new works were a world apart from her more textured, multi-media works in the past.

"Normally I'm very textural and use things I find and embed them in the paint," she said.

"But this series is charcoal and I've done a study of the shadow of the trees in this, so you've just got black and white to play with. The rest, they're acrylic and they're quite real-looking which is unusual for me because I'm quite abstract.

"I love forms and patterns and things but this time I wanted to just study the nature."

She said the exhibition was inspired by her recent relocation.

"I used to live near Thunder Point so my previous exhibitions have been based on wilderness and ocean and cliffs so in a way this is quite different," she said.

"The gardens are quite curated - they've been managed but there's still something quite beautiful about them."

Those interested in viewing the exhibition can attend the opening celebration on Saturday, September 18 from 6pm to 8pm.
