Victoria records 445 new coronavirus cases, including three in the regions, as 20-year-old dies

Of today's cases, 129 were linked to known outbreaks and the rest remain under active investigation. About 74 per cent of today's cases were recorded in the northern suburbs.

There were also three new regional COVID cases recorded, including a V/Line train driver who resides on the Surf Coast, but who was in isolation for the entirety of their infectious period.

There was another positive case in Ballarat who was a construction worker, but works in Melbourne. Finally, there was a case recorded in Mitchell shire.

Sadly, there were two deaths recorded overnight, including a man in his 20s from Hume who died at home and a woman aged in her 80s from Brimbank.

Health authorities are yet to determine if the Hume man had any underlying health conditions, but can confirm he died of COVID-19.

There are now 3799 active COVID cases across Victoria, 85 per cent of which are under the age of 50. There are 563 aged under nine, 647 aged 10 to 19, 906 aged in their 20s and 683 aged in their 30s.

There are 158 people in hospital with COVID-19, with 45 in intensive care and 23 on a ventilator.

Of those cases who were in hospital yesterday, 91 per cent were not vaccinated, eight per cent had received their first dose and just one person was fully vaccinated.

There were 36,615 vaccines administered at state hubs yesterday and it's estimated Victoria will reach its one million dose target tomorrow. About 36,000 jabs are still needed to reach the goal.

Victoria is also inching closer towards its 70 per cent first dose target, with 67.5 per cent of Victorians aged 16 and over having received one shot.

It comes as Deputy Premier James Merlino announced a $22.1 million package for additional mental health support.

"The big element, $13.3 million, will deliver 20 pop-up community mental health services, including eight in regional Victoria, 12 in metropolitan Melbourne," Mr Merlino said.

"We'll have them progressively up and running from the end of this month. So progressively we'll start at the end of this month and progressively open them. There will be a 1300 hotline number and a dedicated website and we'll have details of that over the coming days.

"This $13 million investment, 20 pop-up clinics in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria will deliver 90 clinicians and 93 ,000 hours of care."
