Begood Toya Mother, who won the 2019 Rupert Clarke Stakes has not won a race from his last ten outings after his group one success but Bowman is hoping the seven-year-old can trouble the scorer in this campaign.
"I'm very happy with Begood Toya Mother in the lead up to Saturday's Bobbie Lewis," he told The Standard.
"We gave Begood Toya Mother a 1000 metre jump out at Ararat last Thursday and he went well but he faces a tough task on Saturday.
"He's ran against a lot of top class gallopers since he's win in the Rupert Clarke back in 2019. He's had a few excuses in some of those races but that's racing. It'll be the first time he's gone down the Flemington straight on Saturday.
"The Flemington straight can be a bit daunting for horses having their first start down there but this race fitted into our future plans for the horse in this preparation. I'm under no illusions it's a very, very strong field.
"I'll be very satisfied if he finishes mid-field. He seems a lot more relaxed in his work and jockey Jockey Declan Bates has a great understanding of him."
Bowman is toying with the idea of setting Begood Toya Mother for the $500,000 Cranbourne Cup on November 13.
"There's a lot of options open for us over the spring but we'll be taking it one run at a time," he said.
"I've got the Cranbourne Cup in the back of my mind. The cup is over 1600 metres.
"In previous campaigns he would have struggled to run out the 1600 metres but he's more settled in his races so I'm quietly confident he'll run out the mile."
From his 23 starts Begood Toya Mother has won eight races.
