Moyne Shire Council has announced works will start on Monday to upgrade the Toolong Road drainage culvert.
The works are expected to take until early October to complete, with weather conditions to determine if the project runs to schedule.
During the works, some road closures will be in place, as will detours.
The works are classed as essential, with the section of Toolong Road between Steeles Lane and Ross Lane the epicentre of the project.
Moyne officers are urging motorists to respect the changed conditions and reduce their speeds in the sections affected.
