That quality is again coming to the fore in the long process of getting the unit's new home base built.
Members of the unit are working with local government and SES hierarchy to meet all compliance issues associated with the construction of its new headquarters, which will be co-located with the Port Fairy CFA on the Princes Highway.
Port Fairy SES Unit controller Steve McDowell said all the boxes were being ticked to ensure the best result was achieved in the construction of the new facility.
"It's full steam ahead," Mr McDowell said.
"From the outside it mightn't look like much is happening at the site, but we are getting all the compliance work done.
It's full steam ahead.

"This will allow us to call for building tenders in November and if it all goes to plan, construction could be underway by March next year.
"If that is the case, we could have a completion date by Christmas 2022."
The SES has left its old headquarters in Bank Street and while its new home is being constructed, it has a shed on loan to house its truck.
Other vehicles are being kept at CFA stations across the district until the new location is complete.
The new SES facility will come about thanks to $4 million of state government funding, which was announced in May.
