She was part of the Australian trio which won its semi-final against China on Wednesday night 2-0.
Tapper, who was to play the third and deciding match, did not take to the court as the Australians cruised into the gold medal playoff.
The Australians' semi-final campaign started with Qian Yang and Li Na Lei in the doubles, winning 3-1 (11-7, 10-12, 11-3, 11-8) in 28 minutes.
Yang was dominant in the first singles match-up against Xiaojing Zhao, winning 3-0 (11-3, 14-12, 11-4).
The Australians will play for gold at 11am AEST Friday.
