South-west residents rolling up their sleeves for their first jab jumped 5.8 per cent in the past seven days, outpacing Shepparton (5.6 per cent) and Melbourne's west (5 per cent).

People aged 15 and over with at least one dose in the region is now at 66.6 per cent, the highest in Victoria.

Geelong (66.3 per cent) and Bendigo (65.2 per cent) are close behind.

The region has passed the halfway mark to the national coronavirus vaccine target of 80 per cent, with 41.2 per cent of residents now fully vaccinated. We've fallen slightly behind Geelong (43.2 per cent) and Bendigo (43.1 per cent).

Breaking that down further, that's 68,578 first doses administered and 42,424 people fully vaccinated out of the 102,970 people eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine in south-west Victoria.

This month the south-west has led the way in the vaccine rollout.

Over the weekend the City of Warrnambool recorded the most fully vaccinated residents of Victoria's regional cities, data released on August 28 revealed.

The week before Warrnambool had the highest number of first dose COVID-19 vaccinations in Victoria, continuing the trend from the week before that.

From the start of August numbers of fully vaccinated south-west residents doubled, from 23 per cent of the population to 41.2 per cent.

The south-west is keeping pace with the rest of the state and the nation with 34.2 per cent of Victorians fully vaccinated while 55.7 per cent have received their first dose.

Australia-wide, 34.4 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated, with 58 per cent with at least a first dose.
