But plans are still in place to turn that around, with the firing of the cannon at Port Fairy's Battery Hill still in place to go ahead, if possible.
The cannon firing is organised by the Port Fairy Historic Lifeboat committee, with that group having ordered the powder needed for the next firing.
That firing is planned for September 26 as part of the Port Fairy Vintage Weekend, COVID restrictions pending.
The last time the cannons were fired was in January 2020, with restrictions on public gatherings during COVID putting an end to the activity since then.
If COVID restrictions are lifted for this summer, the cannon firing will return to its regular timetable, which includes firing every Sunday during January.
