On September 8, McMullin will release her latest book, Drover, which will trace the work of Edna Zigenbine, the first female boss drover in Australia.
She is famous for droving 1600 head of cattle from the Kimberly in Queensland in 1950.
Drover will be McMullin's eighth book, with her debut offering, Ponkidoodle, released back in 2009.
Ms McMullin and her family share their time living between Melbourne and Pot Fairy, with the state capital their current location during this COVID lockdown.
McMullin said Drover was aimed at the 4-8 years audience and for school classes of years 1-3.
She said she has a passion for telling Australian history stories.
"I like long lost stories of parts of Australian life that we don't have anymore but shouldn't be forgotten," McMullin said.
"My grandfather was a drover so I grew up hearing stories about droving."
McMullin grew up on the Port Fairy Road in Hamilton, leaving for Melbourne at 17.
McMullin said while copies of Drover will be available in stores on September 8, a full book launch will be held when COVID restrictions allow, hopefully in early to mid October.
