A concrete Telstra pit lid was used to smash the glass sliding door of Morse Bearings on Raglan Parade about 7am on Friday, Detective Sergeant Andy Raven, of Warrnambool Criminal Investigation Unit, said.
The break-in triggered the alarm and the offender ran off, Detective Sergeant Raven said.
"It's caused considerable amount of damage," he said.
Disappointed owner Phil Nicholson said the business had been broken into a number of times over the past few years.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"We average once a year over the last three years," he said.
Mr Nicholson said the business had alarms and security installed which meant offenders had either been caught or had run off.
"It just ends up costing you money every time," he said.
Detective Sergeant Raven said that because the break-in happened during daylight, there would have been cars driving past at the time and has urged anyone who saw anyone in the area to contact police.
