The Port Fairy Medical Clinic is in the midst of delivering it's second batch of AstraZeneca to its clients.

In April, the clinic began the process of delivering the first AstraZeneca jabs to more than 900 clients.

It is now powering through the deliverance of the second jab, with the majority of those receiving the shot aged over 60.

Dr Andrew Gault from the Port Fairy Medical Clinic said with the addition of 300 shots given by Moyne Health Services and a vaccination program rolled out at that organisation's aged care facilities, a large portion of the over 60 community were part of the vaccine roll out.

"It is very positive and anything we can do to get people vaccinated is a good thing," Dr Gault said.

"It has been a big job on top of all the other clinical stuff we do on a day-to-day basis but it's very important.

"We have worked our way through the roll-out, we started with over 90, then over 80, over 70 and then over 60. The clinic has made an active attempt to get as many people vaccinated as possible."

Dr Gault said he was hoping to have the roll-out of the second jab completed by mid-to-late September.

He said the clinic would then re-set and decide what its next step was with the COVID vaccine.

While the vaccine was only delivered at the Port Fairy clinic, Dr Gault said some clients from the Koroit and Macarthur clinics had come to Port Fairy to get their shots.

The only other site in Moyne that delivers the vaccine shot is Warrnambool Medical By Lyndoch Living in Mortlake.

A number of clinics in Warrnambool have the vaccine, while the major venue remains the old Sam's Warehouse site. There are other facilities in neighbouring shires that eligible Moyne residents can access.

Moyne Shire mayor Daniel Meade is one high-profile resident who recently received his first vaccination.
