Lifelong electronics retail worker Gary Dolman will open his first business from scratch on Liebig Street called Warrnambool City Electronics.
He has owned an electronics business for 14 years that he bought in Bendigo and another that he purchased in Horsham in 2019.
"I see Warrnambool as a fantastic area for growth," Mr Dolman said.
A dizzying 7000 electrical items will be on offer in the store, including batteries, cables, radios, security cameras, and automotive electrical parts.
Mr Dolman said there were no direct competitors in Warrnambool. Instead the store would offer a one-stop shop for items found in chains like Autobarn and Harvey Norman.
The store will employ three full-time employees and a casual and part-time team.
The 400 square metre site housed Chemist Warehouse until it moved across the street about 18 months ago.
"There was one site in the whole of Warrnambool of that size available and it was that one," Mr Dolman said.
"Our store in Bendigo is a couple of streets out of the CBD, we want a location where we can be seen."
Mr Dolman said customers were consumers and tradies, and his businesses performed strongly during the coronavirus crisis.
"We took Horsham on two years ago. We need to continue to grow and I am looking for a new challenge," he said.
The new business follows a number of new tenants joining the retail strip, including a jeweller and a new beauty salon.
