Year nine students from Hawkesdale P-12 College will participate in Moyne Shire Council's Lead4Innovation program, developed last year in partnership with Crazy Ideas College.

The program aims to help young people develop their ideas into broader solutions that benefit those around them.

Moyne Shire Mayor Daniel Meade said council and community partners would collaborate with the students to support the adoption of their ideas and products.

"We know that Moyne is home to many creative and innovative young people," Cr Meade said.

"The L4I program will provide the support, training and tools they need to generate ideas and bring them to life, whilst fostering skills in leadership, business, innovation, creativity and strategic thinking."

"Students will be supported to explore their ideas, connect with the community and develop real life solutions that ensure better outcomes for young people living in Moyne."

Year 10 student Isabelle Price, who participated in the 2020 pilot program, said it inspired her to do more for those in her council area.

"After organising the PocketPal program and Silent Disco last year and hearing the incredible amount of positive feedback from students and teachers combined, it showed us that all of our hard work was worth every bit of time," she said.

Cr Meade said the students' hard work would help them build lasting partnerships and gain real-world experience in preparation of joining the workforce.

"Community partners will attend pitch events to be held in August, to connect the student teams with the right people and resources, and help test their ideas," he said.

"These young students are leading the way for the benefit of our community and I'm really looking forward to seeing the inspiring contribution they make to the future of Moyne."
