CORANGAMITE Shire will not be taking any action after a developer was escorted off a planned resort in Princetown.

At the time it was alleged that it was a breach of the strict permits imposed on the site and it brought tensions between protesters and the developer to a head.
In November Princetown Wetlands and Estuary Preservation Group called on the state government to review the planning approval and reverse it, even though it was party to the mediated permit conditions at VCAT. They argued there were better suited sites for the resort.
Corangamite Mayor Ruth Gstrein said the council's legal advice was that work had begun on the site and the permit remained valid.
A statement on the council's website said a comprehensive review had been carried out by council officers involving a site inspection and review of works undertaken in accordance with the planning permit.
"Legal advice has also been obtained on the matter," the statement said.
"As a result, it has been determined that the development has legally commenced in accordance with the planning permit and the permit remains valid. The permit holder subsequently has a further two years until July 3, 2023 to complete the development."
The statement said both community members and the permit holder had been informed of the review and decision.
"This now means that the developer may proceed with development and works in accordance with the permit and endorsed plans," the statement said.
It said a community consultation process would be established to ensure all parties and stakeholders remained informed of what is happening in relation to the project.
