Benjamin Timpson, Gregory Cressall and Lachlan Barr appeared in Warrnambool Magistrates Court via video-link on Monday for a filing hearing.

Two of the three officers were wearing their police uniform.

The trio each face a charge of negligently causing serious injury following an IBAC investigation, Operation Blackmore, into an alleged incident that occurred in Warrnambool in November 2017.

The court heard the three co-accused were charged on June 2 this year.

Prosecutor Courtney Cameron said a hand-up brief would be served on the defence on or before August 30 while a committal mention would be held on November 5.

A hand-up brief contains witness statements and an accused's record of interview.

Magistrate Fiona Hayes questioned whether the prosecution planned to make an application to have the case moved to a different court, stating it would not be unusual given there might be "people sitting (at Warrnambool court) that are unable to deal with the matter".

Ms Cameron said she had not received instructions to do so but further inquiries would be made.

The three accused are on summons.
