The upset couldn't have come at a better time as the Warriors are pushing to make the Warrnambool and District league A grade finals.

They are sitting fifth with six wins and five defeats.

There would certainly be plenty of excitement at Davidson Oval if the Warriors could knock off reigning premier, Merrivale, this week at Merrivale.

Coach Jess Toleman said her group was taking it one week at a time.

"We've chatted about it (the finals race) briefly. But I think we're just taking it week-by-week at the moment," she said.

"I've got a young side and we know that if we focus on each week and the task ahead of us, the reward and the combinations will start to come. So not looking too far ahead. And just focusing on it week-by-week."

She said the new-look side was gelling well and believed it could beat the Dees.

"We were stoked. But I also think we knew we could do it. It was just a matter of all seven of (our players) applying at the same time and sticking to the game plan. So for us, we probably just clicked on a day we really needed to," she said.

The coach said the challenge ahead was to keep gelling well as a unit.

Toleman said the players rallied around teammate, Hannah Garner, last weekend.

"We probably had a bit of a different start to last week's game, one of our players lost her dad on Friday afternoon," she said.

"So it was a very different lead up to a game than what we've experienced as a team."

Toleman said the group played with a lot of heart alongside Garner, who chose to play.

"So it was a pretty emotional game for them," the coach said.

Grace Bell, Emily Porra and Rachel Alderson featured in the Warriors' best players in that match.

Chelsea Quinn scored 48 goals (381) against Timboon Demons and is sitting second behind Nirranda's Steph Townsend (476) for goals scored this season.

"To be honest, Chelsea sets very high expectations of herself. And we're just so fortunate that she's on our team because she's really stood up in that goal ring when Bec (Kavanagh) went down doing her ACL this season," Toleman said.

"So the way Chelsea has stood up as a leader in there has just been outstanding and more than I could have ever asked for as a coach."

The Creekers face Timboon Demons this Saturday at Mack Oval.

Round 15 shapes up as crucial as the Warriors and Creekers will meet at Davidson Oval.
