McGorm said Seahawks exports Trevor Gleeson and Nathan Sobey were making their hometown club proud.
Five-time Perth Wildcats championship-winning mentor Gleeson is bound for the United States and the NBA after becoming one of Australia's most successful basketball coaches. Sobey, meanwhile, is part of the Australian Boomers' squad vying for a maiden Olympics medal in Tokyo this month.
"It (their achievements) puts us on the map and people automatically respect that," McGorm said.
"They go there and they only help grow basketball around the country and people look at Warrnambool and see we have got coaches like Trevor and players like Nathan so it is all positive."

McGorm said the impact of their achievements, especially Gleeson's, would also be felt significantly in Warrnambool.
"For players and coaches both male and female it shows there is a pathway more than anything," he said. "There's a pathway with Trevor to the NBA and he's had a great career in Perth and done everything in Australia he can do and this is the next chapter.
"It shows young coaches and players there is a path. With the Zoom meeting (during last year's lockdown), which is still on our website, I was speaking to him and you could see how hard he works.
"He has worked for many years so we couldn't be prouder of Trev."
Warrnambool Basketball is already booming with its junior program emerging from the coronavirus pandemic and various lockdowns stronger.
