It followed their one-point victory against Argentina in the first of three warm-up games.
Sobey, who got on the court against a star-studded American roster, will represent Warrnambool at the Tokyo Games later this month.
He played 2.53 for one rebound and one assist.
He also had minutes against Argentina.
Australia was nine points down against Team USA at half-time.
The Boomers rallied and produced a 19-6 scoring run late in the third term.
