The 18-year-old missed the final 12-player cut for Australia's Olympic campaign but was named as one of three emergency players.

That means Giddey will remain with the Boomers at their US training base and will play in exhibition games in Las Vegas against the United States, Nigeria and Argentina before the side heads to Japan.

Their first match is against world No.4 Argentina on Sunday.

The NBL rookie of the year is expected to go early in this month's NBA draft and Dellavedova sees a bright future ahead for the young guard.

"I think he's going to be a great NBA player, obviously he's projected really high in the draft," three-time Olympian Dellavedova said on Saturday.

Giddey, who is 203cm, has drawn comparisons to fellow Australian Ben Simmons for his passing game which also impressed Dellavedova.

"His height and vision just allow him to make a lot of passes that other people can't make.

"When he comes off the pick and roll he can see over the top of the defence and he's hitting guys ready to shoot and combine that with his ability to get to the rim and play at his own pace.

"I'm really excited to see what he can do."

The Las Vegas matches have attracted NBA officials, who are watching Giddey closely.

They also have their eyes on Patty Mills, Dante Exum and Dellavedova who are unrestricted free agents.

An eight-year NBA veteran and coming off a second stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dellavedova has signed a three-year deal with Melbourne United in the NBL but has an exit clause should the NBA come knocking.

Melbourne United's NBL title-winner Jock Landale is also looking to impress to pick up his first NBA deal.
