EQUESTRIAN Jamie Kermond joins a strong south-west Victorian contingent of athletes bound for the Olympic Games in Japan.
The Woolsthorpe-raised Kermond will make his Olympic debut after being picked in Australia's three-person showjumping team.
Six other competitors - three dressage and three eventing - complete the equestrian squad.
Equestrian Australia chief executive officer Darren Gocher said it was pleased with the team assembled.
"Equestrian is a unique team sport, with close bonds formed not only between horse and rider but also those who support the combinations behind the scenes," he said.
"This exciting moment will be shared by all in the equestrian community including the dedicated owners, grooms and supporters of our athletes."
Warrnambool basketballer Nathan Sobey is in the USA training with the Boomers which will unveil a final 12-player roster shortly.
