The Bombers have built strong momentum heading into the week off with three wins in their last four games to sit two games outside the top five.
Courtney's side enters the bye fresh off a win over Terang Mortlake but it has some work to do about halting momentum, which has been a regular area of improvement for the Bombers this season.
"It's something we are struggling with when sides do get a run on to be able to stop it and we've talked about that," Courtney said.

"Good sides like South Warrnambool kicked three goals against us and that's what broke the game open. We were lucky (against Terang Mortlake) that we were up before they got their run on.
"It's about locking on, composure with the footy and maybe playing slower with the footy, making the ground wider and trying to slow it down a little bit and swing the momentum back our way then reassess and go back to being more aggressive.
"Those are things we've got to work on and we have some drills at training we can do that for so we'll keep working."
The Bombers face a tough run after the bye against premiership contenders North Warrnambool Eagles, finals fancies Camperdown and reigning premiers Koroit.
