The Blues sit fourth on the Hampden league netball ladder entering the bye after knocking off reigning premier Koroit on Saturday.

Poumako said the Blues had to rally from a shaky start and then took control, winning 47-39 at Victoria Park.

"They got off to a better start than we did. It was 5-0 pretty early on and we've been focusing on some specific things at training," she said.

"We stuck to our game plan for the whole game and that made a really big difference and we were able to do it well, better than we have in the past."

Poumako was rapt with Warrnambool's ability to hassle its opponent.

"Defensive pressure is one thing we've been working on and being more consistent when it goes from our possession to the opposition," she said.

"We've been trying to focus on our reaction time to that being quicker. I think we're feeling better and more confident. We have been chipping away at different things slowly."

Warrnambool was relieved to get through the game without an injury.

Players who have also been carrying niggling concerns played four quarters too.

"Our starting seven was our finishing seven and that hasn't happened this year," Poumako said.

"I've been making plenty of changes this year, trying to work out what is our best fit.

"Yesterday everyone ran out the game really well.

"We had Sarah Cowling, who has been injured, play out a full game, Jess Thwaites has been injured and she played out a full game, Ava Pierce had no issues with her calf and Emma Cust has played a full game no worries."

The non-playing mentor said they would train on Wednesday in a bid to keep their enthusiasm flowing.

"It's starting to come together as we go into the bye," Poumako said.

"Honestly, I'd prefer to be playing this weekend and we didn't have a bye because we're starting to get some momentum."
