The Magpies are fifth with four victories and four defeats.
"Our forward pressure needs to be big, we're not that tall of a side down forward, so that's a big thing for us," Martin said.
"Our forward pressure needs to be right up, making it hard for them bringing it out.

"And just our ball-movement, looking lateral, everything like that we need to work on and the more we do it the better we're going to get."
Martin said a major focus this year was getting the new-look group to gel.
"That's the big thing, it takes time to gel, new players playing with each other when we've never played together before, it takes a year to gel," the 25-year-old said.
"Hopefully we can hang on to these players we've brought in this year and add a few extra players for next year and go from there."
Martin is part of a star-studded midfield which includes former AFL player Shane Savage and Andy McMeel who won the past two Warrnambool and District competition league best and fairest awards.
Martin said he loved having them on board and the midfielders were learning to play with each other just like the rest of the team.
"I've played with Kurt (Smith) for five or six years and he and I are quite connected through the midfield but I've only been playing with Andy and Shane just this year," he said.
"So to be a tight midfield group you need to get that experience together and know where everyone runs and know where they are moving."
Martin said one of the many positives of this season had been the promotion of youngsters.
"Our under 16s team at the moment, they're quite a skillful side and we're slowly trying to get a lot of experience into a lot of those players like Ollie Myers and Oscar Pollock," he said.
"We're bringing those players through the side every now and then and when they do come in and get a chance they're doing quite well which is always impressive to see."
Myers is in seniors at the moment and has played the past two matches while Pollock played four games earlier this season.
The Seagulls lost to Warrnambool Blues by 49 points last weekend and their only win came against Cobden in round four.
Martin is a one-club player and joint-captain with Matt Sully.
