This week's battle with ninth-placed Allansford presents itself as the ideal opportunity for the Creekers to build on their momentum.
"We should be confident going into this one, we've been playing some good netball," coach Thalia Robertson said.
"We've got a pretty tough run (from here), there are winnable games we need to win to stay in the top five."
Russells Creek remaining matches are against Allansford, Nirranda, Timboon Demons, Old Collegians, Dennington, Merrivale and Panmure.
Many of those teams are destined for finals so the Cats clash is a must-win.
Robertson felt her group worked well in attack on Saturday.
"Having the couple of weeks off didn't do us that well in terms of our style," she said.
"The last couple of games we've been able to move girls around and that sort of thing to get some run back in the legs and see what works.
"On the weekend, the attacking end flowed a bit nicer than our last game (a win against Kolora-Noorat).
"And we got the ball into Sarah Forbes (goal shooter) a little easier which was good."
Forbes was deadly on Saturday with 43 goals.
She has been working under the ring with Emily Armstrong and 17-year-old, Sophie Morton.
Robertson has also been keen to give Morton a run at wing attack to allow her to gain experience in that role too.
The overarching focus for the team has been on transitioning to attack after winning turnovers.
Robertson said she had seen that improve this season as players got to know each other better.
Creekers captain Jess Quinlivan was named her team's best against the Lions and has impressed the coach.
"Jess is a gun, she's so reliable, you know she's going to give 110 per cent each week and she's such a clean player as well," Robertson said.
