Hobbs conceded his side let too many easy clearances from stoppages across the ground in Saturday's 5.7 (37) to 17.13 (115) defeat to Merrivale.

"They (Tigers) ran it out too easy and it is something we will work on during the week," he said.

"We will see what we can do there with 'Barney' (Marcus Hickey) as he is the main one in there and he either wins or nullifies it a lot but we are not utilising that enough."

Hobbs said his side would work on defending opposition exits and fixing their ball use out of stoppages as it prepares to face last-placed Dennington, which is yet to win a game.

The first-year mentor said fixing up his side's stoppage work will help take the load off its under fire defence, which had its hands full with the Warrnambool and District league's leading goal-kicker Nathan Krepp on Saturday.

Hobbs hopes dynamic forward Tomas Lindquist will be right to play after he was hurt in the Demons' loss to the Tigers.

Lindquist, who has scored six goals in six games this season, hurt his ribs in a contest early in the first quarter and didn't play out the game.

Midfielder Lyndon Alsop and full-back Sam Newey, who have both played all eight games, also hurt their ribs in the match but should be right to play this weekend.

Apart from the trio the Demons have close to all players available with only Ewan Flanagan's name on the whiteboard subject to his work commitments.

Dennington is the only team Hobbs' side has beaten this year.

The Demons last faced the Dogs in round two when they defeated them by 49 points at Timboon Recreation Reserve.
