Coach Adam Matheson said Saturday's 14.19 (103) to 9.6 (60) victory over the fifth-placed Cats would garner belief within his side.
"The way we're playing at the moment we're taking it one game at a time as we haven't been playing that well but to break the shackles was nice and now we have got a bit of belief back," he said.
The Lions had won just one of their last five games before the coronavirus-enforced shutdown of the Warrnambool and District league.

The victory now has them level with fellow finals contender Russells Creek, who they play next week, on 12 points and a game away from Allansford, which sits in the last finals spot.
Matheson said his side also got through the game unscathed.
Allansford failed to get through without injuries but coach Ben Price expects Dylan Hare (hamstring) and Tyler Mungean (abdomen) to be given the all clear to play Nirranda next weekend.
Price called for his players to be more committed to training and their own fitness after his side ran out of legs against the Lions.
"I basically drew a line to say they have to start committing to themselves or our top five hopes are going to slip away pretty quick," he said.

"We will need to put in some hard work to maintain the spot as anything can happen but it is up to them now.
"We are holding the spot with minimal commitment on the training track but if we get everyone involved and to buy in the top five spot is definitely achievable.
"The boys want to be successful but need to understand what it means or what it takes. We will work on that over the coming weeks."
