The Power were without Ben Fraser, Jacob Mahony, Jason and Joel Moloney, who were all unavailable due to Melbourne's coronavirus restrictions, Nick Hoare and Nick Bourke for Saturday's clash against Russells Creek.

But the Power's young stars took up the charge to lead the side to a 13.10 (88) to 7.9 (51) victory at Noorat Recreation Reserve.

"Definitely noticed a lack of experience and it provided a good challenge," Walsh said.

"From our leadership group of six we only had two playing and clearly we were lacking experience but it was good for our younger players to work through things.

"When it is not going as well as we would've like it was a positive to see some of our other players take responsibility and put our heads down and get the job done."

Harry O'Sullivan was named best on ground for the Power while young forward Ryley Hutchins continued his rise with three goals.

Hutchins is now in the top five in the league's goal-kicking tally with 23.

Sam Kenna and Joel Dillion were also some of their side's best alongside experienced heads in Ben Johnson and Stephen O'Connor.

Walsh said Aaron Robertson (ribs) was hurt in a heavy collision in the first quarter and didn't play out the game.

He said the club would see how the forward, who has played four games this season, pulls up before determining his availability to face Merrivale next weekend.

Russells Creek coach Peter Timms said his side would continue to work on a four-quarter effort as it chases a spot in the finals.
