There will be a review of speed limits and road conditions following the death of 75-year-old pedestrian in Warrnambool on Friday evening after a collision with a car.
Warrnambool police Acting Senior Sergeant Cameron Ross said the 75-year-old Warrnambool woman was struck by a vehicle heading south on Banyan Street near the intersection with Princess Street about 5.45pm.
The woman died at the accident scene.
"It is understood the woman has emerged from between two parked vehicles and been struck by a silver Honda Civic, which was unable to be stopped in time to avoid a collision," he said.
"A 27-year-old Warrnambool man has assisted police with our enquiries."
It is believed the woman was heading west away from a nearby pizza shop when the collision happened.
Acting Senior Sergeant Ross it was usual practice to review road conditions and speed limits with relevant authorities, including VicRoads and the local council, following a fatal collision.
North-south arterial roads in the area, including Liebig/Howard Street, Banyan Street and Cramer Street, are all subject to 60km/h speed limits.
The roads are in places quite wide - having parking on the road edges - and crossing them, particularly at night, could be considered hazardous.

Warrnambool Highway Patrol are investigating the incident and the exact circumstances are yet to be determined.
"Anytime road trauma occurs it affects people in different ways, from people who witnessed it to loved ones who pick up the pieces, to the emergency services who attend," Senior Sergeant Asenjo said.
"It's a sober reminder the roads are a dangerous place. Please take care on the roads and get home to your loved ones."
Road closures remain in place on Banyan Street until late Friday night.
