James Felekos, 33, of Colac, told police he broke into a vacant holiday house in Port Fairy's Ocean Drive, used the shower and cooked the victim's food before stealing a coffee machine.
He pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Friday to dishonesty-related offences.
The court heard Felekos had a "severe" methamphetamine addiction, using 1.7 grams per day but having no job to support his habit.
The man told police he went on a week-long crime spree in Port Fairy from May 17, checking unlocked cars and houses for property to steal.
The thefts occurred in Port Fairy's Powling Street, Roberts Avenue, Elizabeth Street and Ocean Drive.
Stolen items included a wallet, credit cards, camera, fire extinguisher, surf board, Apple MacBook laptop, women's clothing, a large amount of fishing gear, five $50 vouchers to Warrnambool's Bojangles restaurant and three slabs of beer.
The court heard majority of the vehicles and homes were left unlocked.
Felekos told police he entered the Ocean Drive holiday home by forcing open the rear laundry door.
He was arrested at a property in Elizabeth Street where he was residing with a friend.
A search of his Mitsubishi Outlander wagon uncovered six grams of methamphetamine, a large amount of plastic deal bags and a set of digital scales.
During an interview, Felekos told police his drug habit was "out of control", that his addiction was "too hard to break" and he stole property to sell for drug money.
Lawyer Ian Pugh said his client was active in helping detectives in recovering 27 stolen items.
