At the time, an angry ocean hurled rocks onto the roads around Griffiths Island and The Passage, bringing the closure of the roads and the island causeway.
A family from Ballarat, who were eventually safely removed, were stranded on the Island due to large swells.
Before the extreme weather event, Moyne Shire Council had planned to begin upgrade works on the causeway during April.
But those upgrades are yet to be completed, as more unsettled weather has made sea conditions unfriendly.
Moyne Shire director of infrastructure and environment Trev Greenberger said a new timeline has been set for the works.,
"Port Fairy residents and visitors are advised that Griffiths Island will remain closed until mid-June to complete works including upgrades to the southern causeway and repairs due to earlier storm damage," Mr Greenberger said.
"Access to the island was scheduled to reopen at the end of May, however works have been hampered due to weather conditions."
"While it is disappointing that the island will be closed for longer than initially expected, the public's safety is council's priority."

"Council would like to thank the community for their continued patience while these essential works are carried out."
The works on the causeway include the replacement of deteriorated infrastructure and construction of a new concrete path.
Moyne shire mayor Daniel Meade said one piece of this infrastructure was replacing culverts under the causeway.
He said the works would improve the accessibility and longevity of the track.
"The Griffiths Island Lighthouse in Port Fairy is one of the most popular tourism icons in the south west region," Cr Meade said.
"This project will not only improve safety and emergency vehicle access to the island but will also complement the natural attractions on the island."
The works budget is $200,000, with a grant of $73,000 from the state government.
