Kings Full, who has been in Purcell's stable for three months, previously raced with success in Queensland before the multiple group one trainer purchased the six-year-old in an online auction.

"We paid $27,500 for Kings Full in an online auction," Purcell told The Standard.

"I thought he was relatively cheap going on the prices of horses in the market place today.

"He's well bred and I thought he was worth taking a punt so a few of our loyal owners in the stable wanted to get involved in him.

"I'll very interested how he goes on Saturday. I'm quietly confident he'll run well but I'm more confident he'll be improved with that run under his belt."

Purcell has not ruled out a career over jumps for Kings Full in the future.

"I'm not sure if Kings Full will head down a jumping path," he said.

"We'll just take little steps for now. There's no hurry with him. We'll give him a few starts on the flat first and get a gauge after those runs."

Top jockey Damien Lane has been booked to ride Kings Full.

Guizot, a stablemate of Kings Full, runs in a $125,000 benchmark 84 over 1600 metres for Purcell. Promising apprentice jockey Laura Lafferty has been booked to ride Guizot. "The three-kilogram claim for Laura is a bonus," he said. "Guizot has a very good record at Caulfield. He should be competitive with the claim for Laura."

Meanwhile, Lindsey Smith rates Adelaide Ace his best chance of winning from four runners the Warrnambool trainer saddles up at Caulfield.

Smith also has Continuance, Why Choose Her and Great Again running on the nine-race program.

"Adelaide Ace is my best hope," he told The Standard.

I thought his first-up run at the Warrnambool carnival was very good. He's improved from that outing.

"He had a wind operation while he was having a spell and it appears to have been a success. He showed a lot of promise as a young horse and I've got my fingers crossed he'll deliver positive results in this campaign."

Why Choose Her makes her Victorian debut for Smith in a $125,000 mares race after showing good form in Perth.

"Why Choose Her is a nice horse," he said.

"She's got handy form back in Perth and handles wet tracks. I've been happy with how she's going here.

"She's not the roughest hope in this race. We've also Continuance. She's up in grade but down in weight from her last start at Ballarat.

"I'm a bit worried about the awkward gate that she's drawn but on the other hand we've got champion jockey Damien Oliver in the saddle so that compensates for a lot of things. Great Again is our other runner. I'm thinking of scratching him because the track will not be heavy enough. He's a superior wet tracker."

Maddi Raymond and Symon Wilde have runners at Caulfield. Top trainer Ciaron Maher has numerous starters around the country including Explosive Jack and Let's Karaka Deel who line up on the $600,000 group one Queensland Derby at Eagle Farm.
