Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives arrested the 30-year-old man of no fixed place of address on Saturday.
He was charged with dangerous driving causing death and remanded in custody to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Sunday.
Emergency Services were called to Glenelg Highway after three trucks collided just after 5pm on 12 May.
A 37-year-old South Australian man died following the fiery crash east of Skipton.
One of the drivers, a male in his 30s, was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for treatment of upper body injuries while a third driver in his 40s was transported by road ambulance to Ballarat Base Hospital.
