A former volunteer firefighter has been remanded in custody after being charged with starting a number of bushfires in the southern Adelaide Hills.

Greg McGannon faced Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday on 12 counts of intentionally causing a bushfire and 10 counts of property damage.
On January 24, fire crews responded to bushfires at Cherry Gardens, Bradbury, Dorset Vale and Kangarilla.
The fires quickly merged in very hot conditions, burning for more than 24 hours before being contained.
They burnt through more than 2500 hectares of scrub and farmland within a 28-kilometres perimeter.
At the height of the incident, an emergency warning was in place for a number of towns.
Several homes and other buildings were destroyed along with cars and infrastructure.
Police said their investigation was ongoing and asked for anyone who saw people or vehicles, particularly a small white car, in the area to come forward.
McGannon will return to court in relation to the bushfire charges in September.
But the 61-year-old is also expected to appear in the Supreme Court next week in a bid to be released on bail.
