Detective Senior Constable Richard Hughes, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said someone forced entry to a side door of The Sisters CFA between 6pm on Wednesday and 8am Thursday.
He said a school bus driver observed the door left open at the building on Thursday morning and contacted the CFA caption who notified the area commander.
Detective Senior Constable Hughes said a BBQ gas cylinder, a red tool box containing assorted tools and a defibrillator box was stolen from two fire trucks at the volunteer-run property.
The live-saving defibrillator was not in the box at the time of the offending.
Detective Senior Constable Hughes said the incident was the second burglary at The Sisters CFA in as many months.
