And it gets another chance this weekend when the Allansford-based club hosts the second round of the 2021 Junior Victorian Motocross Championships.

Secretary Tracy Chilton said the club relished the chance to host the state titles and applies for it at the start of every season.

"We try and apply for them every year and we try alternate between the junior and senior and it's not always the case that we get it," she said.

"We have got to apply to host it from Motorcycling Victoria for either of the four rounds and if we get it depends on if other clubs have applied and whether we are lucky to get one of those rounds.

"It's a bonus every year if we get a state title, whether that is senior or junior, as it gets more people to our track and to the area."

Albury hosted round one in late March while Goulburn Valley (31 July - 1 August) and Dandenong (4-5 September) will follow Shipwreck Coast's round.

Seven classes will race on the weekend with three grades (A, B and C) for each class. The grades will all have their own separate races, unlike the Western Region events which combines all grades.

The Saturday will see the 65cc, 85cc big wheel and 250cc hit the track at Lake Gillear.

On Sunday the 50cc, 85cc small wheel, girls and 125cc classes will race.

Chilton said riders who didn't compete at the first round in Albury could still race this weekend.

It means Shipwreck Coast members could enter and not miss a weekend of racing at their home track, which Chilton said would be beneficial to their junior riders.

"It's heaps better because if an A grader like Paddy Lewis, who is in his first year in A grade, he can try to better his skills to beat people at that level," she said.

"They benefit from riding in their own grades as it is all the same in Western Region with A, B and C all together.

"So if an A grader gets a bad start they are working through the field but if they are all in one grade they will be chasing the pack."

Chilton hopes the wet weather holds off so the club's track, which is maintained by Roger Laycock, could be in good condition for a big weekend to of racing.
