The 29-year-old appeared in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday charged with offences, including persistently breaching a family violence intervention order, using a carrier service to menace, stalking and bail offences.

He made a self-represented, unsuccessful bail application and was remanded in custody.

The court heard the man and the victim were in a relationship for six years before it ended in September 2019.

Since then an intervention order was put in place prohibiting the man from contacting the victim or remaining within 200 metres of her.

The man is accused of repeatedly contacting the woman between January and April this year.

He allegedly sent her numerous text messages, repeatedly tried to call her and even made fake Facebook accounts in order to speak to her.

The court heard some of the messages were abusive and manipulative.

On one occasion he allegedly told the victim that if she didn't remove the intervention order against him, he would tattoo the words "I hate you" on her forehead.

At the time of the offending he was on bail for allegedly assaulting the victim by bending her hand back and intentionally splashing hot coffee on her.

The court heard the victim was fearful of the man and often couldn't sleep at night, instead replaying a previous incident where she allegedly woke to him standing over her.

The man was remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date.
