The cancellation of a horse racing meet at Kingaroy due to the coronavirus prompted two mates to decide to attend the May Racing Carnival.

Brisbane's Scott Bury and Melbourne's Murray Burnett said it was the first time they had attended the event.
The keen race goers said they were looking forward to the jumps racing.
"We go to that race meeting every year and it always clashes with this one and we haven't been able to come," Mr Burnett said.
"Due to COVID changes with that race meeting in Queensland we thought it was the perfect opportunity to come here."
The friends will attend all three days of the carnival.
"It's a novelty, especially with so many jumps races. Five or six out of the races today are jumps races.
"It will be great and I hope jumps racing keeps going for a long time to come."
