Jack Hutt will have scans on his knee after he was hurt in the Bombers' 11.17 (83) to 6.12 (48) loss to Camperdown at Leura Oval on Saturday night.
It compounded a tough night for the Bombers, who were within four points at three-quarter-time before being blown away by a Sam Gordon-inspired Camperdown.
Gordon, playing his first match for his home club in almost nine years, kicked seven goals.
Cobden coach Adam Courtney said Hutt "couldn't take a trick".
He said the point of concern was Hutt's meniscus but the club needed to wait on official results to determine the extent of the damage.
"It's not looking too good. It's the knee he's had two operations on," Courtney said.
"It didn't look good and it's pretty shattering for Jack, our club and our group."
Courtney said the way the Bombers finished the match - the first under lights at Camperdown - added insult to injury.
"I think Camperdown had 14 forward entries in the last quarter and 12 scoring shots, so we really fell away," he said.
"Credit to them, they ran out the game better than us, and when you have a key forward (Gordon) who kicks seven goals it makes a pretty big difference.
"The way their forward line operated, they gave him plenty of space and he also kicked a couple of really crafty goals off the ground."
Camperdown coach Neville Swayn was thrilled with his players' final-term blitz, which included four unanswered goals.
"We might have held them goalless in the last. We were happy with how we finished the game off," he said.
Swayn, who also praised returning key defender Brendan Richardson, said Gordon gave the Magpies' midfielders confidence to kick the ball to him.
"Our delivery to Sam was good as well. He gave us a focal point and it wasn't just his seven goals - he made a contest for us as well which was pleasing" he said.
"It was a mixture. It wasn't just lead, take a mark, go back and kick a goal.
"He's really rapt to be back at the club and to make a good contribution like that, I was rapt for him.
"It was a really good reward because he's had a big pre-season."
