The online survey, pop-up community consultations and primary school activities compiled 1049 contributions from 320 residents to develop the Moyne Shire 2040 Community Vision.

Throughout the first stage of 'My Moyne My Future', a range of aspirations were expressed by residents as what sectors should be addressed and resolved before 2040.

"A strong, healthy community supported by a progressive council with a diverse economy, and healthy environment," one respondent suggested.

"A healthy coastline, excellent sporting facilities, roads in excellent condition. High employment for local residents," another said.

"An interactive linked series of communities that not only look after the wellbeing of residents but allow for tourism to expand throughout region bringing employment and investment across Moyne," one resident wrote.

"A strong, vibrant sustainable community, not overdeveloped," another person said.

The other most important priorities highlighted by the survey were housing availability and affordability; climate change and extreme weather; health and wellbeing; education and career pathways; preserving biodiversity/natural environment; and local economy and jobs.

Responding to climate change and extreme weather was the most important issue to people aged under 45; housing availability and affordability was the most important issue to 45-54 year-olds; and roads and transport was the most important issue to those over 55 years.

Moyne Shire Mayor Daniel Meade said there had been a great response from the community.

"A total of 1049 contributions were received from approximately 320 people as part of the My Moyne My Future stage one engagement process conducted in March and early April," he said.

"Engagement was held through an online survey, five face-to-face pop-up sessions and drawing activities at local primary schools.

"Conversations about the 2040 Community Vision highlighted the importance of making the most of the community's connections and strengths, and keeping an inclusive, welcoming and friendly community."

The information gathered will now be explored and deliberated upon by the 42-member Moyne 2040 Community Vision Panel during a series of five facilitated workshops in April and May. The panel will then make recommendations to Council to assist in development of the Community Vision, Council Plan and Long Term Financial Plan.
