Warrnambool police Sergeant Martin Flannery said the victim was asleep inside her Wollaston Road home on Friday night when the incident occurred just before 4am.
"The front lounge window was smashed and the offenders have fled the scene," he said.
"The female occupant was rattled by the situation and police are now investigating the criminal damage."
Sergeant Flannery urged anyone with information to come forward.
"If someone heard or saw something in the area, whether it's a group of drunk people or even a noisy car, we're urging them to please report it to the police," he said.
Anyone with information should contact Warrnambool police or Crime Stoppers.
