Jubilee Park near Allansford will get accessible toilets which will be fully funded after receiving $230,000 from the state government.

The Victorian Fisheries Authority has also provided $99,000 to extend the Jubilee Park boat ramp at Allansford and another $12,000 to improve seats and ladders on a fishing pontoon.

More works could soon be on the way if the council is successful in its application to Better Boating Victoria for another $215,000 worth of works that would be funded with a 20 per cent commitment from city coffers.

Cr Ben Blain said it was exciting the council was getting better infrastructure, and proposed works funded by future applications would encourage more fishermen to come to the city.

"We are a fishing destination here in Warrnambool and that's what we want to be known as," he said.

The council has sought $103,000 for the relocation of the boat wash down facilities at Warrnambool's harbour. About $30,000 has been sought for the creation of asset management plans for the Hopkins and Merri rivers.

Another $72,000 is needed to replace the buoy in the Hopkins River, and $11,000 has also been sought for a navigation aid for the river's boat ramp. Cr Blain said even though the Port of Warrnambool was a major concern for the council, it was good to see that the council had plans for the city's rivers as well.

The applications do not cover the major works the council has planned for the upgrade of the harbour boat ramp, repairs to the breakwater and Lady Bay dredging.

Those projects are subject to separate and larger applications with Better Boating Victoria and the Department of Transport.

The council has been working with Better Boating Victoria on finalising plans for a new boat ramp for the city.
