The Tigers start their Warrnambool and District league premiership defence against Old Collegians at Davidson Oval on Good Friday.
Sobey, who is preparing for her first game in charge of the Tigers, hopes to unearth a new lesson about her side every week this season.
"You can say a lot at training but you never really know until you put into play what needs to be and what doesn't need to be worked on," she said.
"Working on our pros and cons will help open my eyes a little bit more."
The playing-coach said her Tigers were pumped to hit the court after valuable practice matches against Hampden league sides.
"It's been a long wait and it feels like ages since we started in December. We have been counting down the days and we are ready to go," she said.

"We have had three practice matches against Warrnambool, Koroit and North Warrnambool Eagles and they have given us a good run, opens the eyes and gets the feet back into it.
"Its about getting back into the body. It's easy enough when you can catch a few balls here and there but one-on-one contests and playing against your club you don't want to go too hard.
"Playing against another senior side steps it up a notch and helps us get into it."

Sobey said her side entered the season in fine form.
"We are pretty fresh and really fit after having the 12 months off," she said.
"Everyone is very fit as there has been some swimming, running and lots of outdoor activities because of COVID.
"They are surprisingly fit and during the off-season you have to try and catch up but everyone seems well in front and we don't have to worry about our fitness at training it's all mental."
