WARRNAMBOOL trainer Aaron Purcell pulled the right reign running Double Bluff in an open hurdle over 3200 metres at Warrnambool instead of lining up in the Adelaide Cup on Monday.

Double Bluff beat Coleridge by 14 lengths with Rexmont back in third place in the opening hurdle race of the 2021 jumps season.
Purcell said the 10-year-old would now be set for the $100,000 Harry D Young Hurdle at Oakbank on March 31.
"I was thinking of running Double Bluff in the Adelaide Cup but I decided to run him in the hurdle," he said.
"Double Bluff is very fit and has run well in Adelaide cups previously but we made the right move running in the hurdle race.
"He's now won three of his seven jumps starts and looks set for a good season.
"We'll take him over to Oakbank for the hurdle and may think of running him in the Warrnambool Grand Annual Steeplechase but it all depends on the weather and track. He doesn't really like heavy tracks."
Top jumps trainer Eric Musgrove had two of the three jumps winners.
He was successful with Zatagilo in the restricted steeplechase while Cheners won the maiden hurdle.
The riding honours in the jumps races were shared by Aaron Lynch (Zataglio), Tom Ryan (Double Bluff) and Daryl Horner junior (Cheners).
The 2021 jumps season moves to Terang on March 18, for the running of a hurdle and steeplechase.
