Tralee Rose, to be ridden by top Adelaide jockey Jason Holder, is an odds-on favourite for the group two classic and Wilde believes the four-year-old mare is well under the odds for the 3200-metre contest.

"The bookies have her pretty short in the market," he told The Standard.

"I couldn't take the short odds. Tralee Rose's wins in the Bagot and Lord Reims were impressive but this is her biggest test.

"We'll get a better gauge how good she is after she runs in the Adelaide Cup. I can't fault her condition.

"She had a track gallop on the course proper at Warrnambool last week with apprentice jockey Melissa Julius in the saddle.

"Melissa gave a very good report as to how Tralee Rose is going. I'm very confident she'll run out a strong two miles. She's stoutly bred to run the distance but as I said this is her toughest test."

Tralee Rose is not the only Warrnambool-trained galloper running in this year's Adelaide Cup.

Wilde will decide after the Adelaide Cup performance if Tralee Rose heads to the Sydney Cup or stays in Melbourne for the Ramsden Stakes at Flemington.

"I'm trying hard not to think about runs after the Adelaide Cup at this stage but it's difficult not to give them some thought," he said.

"The Sydney Cup is a $2 million race on April 10 while the winner of the Ramsden Stakes in May gets a guaranteed start in this year's Melbourne Cup.

"We've got to get over the Adelaide Cup before we start thinking about other races."

Tralee Rose has won five races and been in the minor placegetters stall on three occasions from her 10 starts.
