The communities in South West Victoria are eagerly anticipating a hive of activity this autumn, thanks to a fabulous line-up of festivals and events. From an impressive array of tech and cultural festivals to Easter-themed treats, here are a handful of ideas to get you started.
Autumn Adventures
Autumn Adventures is Flagstaff Hill's jam-packed school holiday program that everyone will love. There are daily activities with a fun, historical twist, whether it's cooking, woodworking, making your own toys and Easter crafts, re-enacting military drills or travelling back in time to see what school was like in the 19th century - everyone is in for a treat. Visit flagstaffhill.com for more information.
Koroit Irish Festival
Koroit will pay homage to its Irish heritage when the town hosts its annual festival on the weekend of April 30 - May 2. A street procession, Gaelic Games Carnival and Big Breakfast are among the many other events that make the festival so unique. The aim of the festival is to promote the town of Koroit and unite the community. Tickets to the festival are now on sale at koroitirishfestival.com.au.
Warrnambool and District Easter Arts Festival
This year's celebration of art includes a series of events encompassing painting, music, photography, dance, food and the real meaning of Easter. A highlight of the event is the WDAS art show and competition, with a $1000 first prize and five $200 prizes up for grabs. Other events happening from March 17 to April 24 illustrate the breadth in which this Easter Arts Festival has grown since its inception 16 years ago. Check them out at easterartsfestival.com.
Lighthouse Theatre
Live performances are back and raring to go, with a kaleidoscope of different performances to interest anyone and everyone. Music legend Archie Roach will perform on May 1 as part of his final tour, Tell Me Why, a musical walk through his life and experiences. Esports Festival
From May 25 to 29 the Greater Hamilton region will be buzzing with all things tech, gaming, data and gadgets. For the first time ever, Melbourne-based Australian Esports League is hosting a weekend Esports Festival in Hamilton, with free competitions, tournaments, and a free play zone for kids (and the big kids inside all of us) to drop into. The Festival forms the fun weekend finale to the 2021 Digital Innovation & Smart Agriculture (DISA) Festival. Visit disafestival.com.au for details.
