The facility is undergoing a $10.72 million redevelopment which is on track to be completed in May 2022.
The turf, which is coming from a farm an hour south of Adelaide, was delayed by weather and COVID-19 but the first section of 5000-square-metres will go down on Saturday, the council said.
The turf, Santa Ana couch, was one of the most popular grass varieties for sportsgrounds and about $213,000 worth will be laid at the new ground by March 11 if weather permits.

As part of the revamp, Reid Oval will get new goalposts, new interchange benches and boundary fencing.
The existing building will be demolished to make way for a new two-storey pavilion with changerooms, social areas, office facilities and terraced seating.
Cricket practice nets will be replaced with a new four-lane cricket net compound that can operate as a multipurpose facility.
